International Health Certificates
USDA certified veterinarian on staff.
Pet health certificates are required for pets traveling both domestically and internationally. At our clinic, we are happy to assist existing clients with their pet’s health certificates. Please note that processing the associated paperwork can take several weeks.
Each country has different travel requirements, so we’ll need to determine exactly what you’ll need based on your destination. For domestic travel, please plan at least two months in advance, and for international travel, at least four months. If rabies titers are required, such as for travel to Hawaii, Australia, etc., you may need additional time for testing and paperwork. For more information on travel requirements, please visit the USDA website: aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel.
For Non-Clients
If you are not an existing client, we recommend reaching out to another veterinary clinic for assistance with your pet's health certificate. You can also refer to the USDA website or your destination’s consulate for further guidance.
Planning for Pet Travel
When traveling by car, it’s important to carry your pet’s vaccine history, their most recent rabies certificate, and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian.
If flying, be sure to research the specific airline's pet policies, as some airlines have their own requirements. Consider asking the following questions:
- What are your pet travel policies?
- Do you offer cargo space for larger pets?
- Are small pets allowed in the cabin?
- What are your specific pet carrier requirements?
- How are pets handled during layovers?
Keep in mind that only USDA-certified veterinarians can issue international health certificates.
If you are an existing client, please call us at (262) 377-2460 to schedule an appointment. Be sure to let us know where and when you’re planning to travel, so we can address your needs. For additional information, you can also visit the USDA website.
